Top Fragrance Tips

Whether you’re a perfume connoisseur or a scent newbie, when it comes to fragrance there’s a lot of things you may not know or have even considered.

Discover our curated guide with our top tips on how to get the most out of your fragrance.

Do fragrances go out of date?

Just like cosmetics, fragrances do go out of date, however this depends on several factors such as the ingredients and how well they have been stored. Experts recommend keeping a fragrance anywhere from 1-3 years, however if cared for correctly these can last longer.

Whilst fragrances don’t become unsafe to use, their scent can break down and change over time due to exposure to light and heat, making the notes fade. Want to prolong the life of your favorite scent? Carry on reading.

Where should I store my fragrance?

When it comes to preserving your favorite fragrances, where you store them matters more than you might think. Although it may be tempting to have your stylish bottles on display, you should stay clear of sunlight and heat.

Find a cool, dark spot away from windows, radiators or humidity, as this can break down the notes, changing the scent of your fragrance. If you’ve got a fragrance collection, you may want a dedicated perfume tray or drawer to keep everything organized and protected!

How should I apply my fragrance?

Start by choosing the right spots to apply your fragrance. Pulse points are your best friends here – think wrists, neck, and behind your ears. These areas emit heat, which helps to diffuse and amplify the fragrance. Hold the perfume bottle about 6-8 inches away from your skin and give it a light, even spritz.

Resist the urge to rub your wrists together after applying as this can break down the fragrance molecules and alter the scent, let your perfume settle and develop naturally.

How do I make my fragrance last longer?

Want to make your favorite perfume last day to night? Right after your shower when your skin is clean and slightly damp, apply a moisturizer or an unscented body lotion to hydrate your skin.

Spritz your fragrance on your pulse points, as these areas emit heat, intensifying the fragrance. Another top trick is to spray perfume on your hairbrush and run it through your locks as hair can hold scent.
